What changed, version by version
The same notes you see in the store listings, written for people rather than for the commit log. Every release ships in Ukrainian and English.

Version 1.9.0
Fixed
- In drop-down language lists, Movar labelled every language it recognised, and those labels opened over the rows next to them — the options you were reaching for were the ones covered. They are gone now: the row the hidden language sat in carries a "Movar: hidden" mark instead, and clicking it puts the language back.
- In the lists a browser draws itself, a hidden language vanished with no trace. A mark now sits beside the switcher, and hovering the switcher shows what Movar took out.
New
- Removing Movar now opens a page asking what did not work. No form and no analytics: the line you pick opens your mail app with the subject ready, and the message goes only when you send it.
-
Version 1.8.1
Fixed
- Google search results in languages you never blocked — Polish, German, French and others — were disappearing from the page. Movar now hides only what you actually blocked.
-
Version 1.8.0
New
- The Movar app on macOS now has a layout of its own, rather than the phone screen rendered in a window: Detector and Audit are two-pane workbenches, Settings is a centred column. The window opens larger and holds together when you resize it.
Fixed
- On macOS, content no longer clips against its own edges: sheets (About, the Audit explainer, the confirmations) open at the height of what is in them instead of all at one height, and no row is cut through by the bottom edge any more.
- On iPad, rows no longer stretch the full width of the screen. It is a measured column now, so a switch sits beside the label naming it rather than half a screen away from it.
- Audit no longer throws away a redirect chain that ran longer than it was allowed to follow. The app and the command line now judge the same site the same way.
Improved
- Detector: the verdict and the evidence for it are one card now, not two sections. The language list is edited on the tab itself rather than in a sheet of its own, and it no longer reorders under your finger while you change it.
- On the Audit tab, the rule-pack switch sits on the line of the name it answers, and the statute that name rests on gets a line of its own.
-
Version 1.7.0
New
- The Movar app for Safari is now fully native: Settings, Audit and About are rebuilt in SwiftUI, and the tab bar goes from four tabs to three.
- About now links out to the privacy policy, Movar's MIT licence, the dependency licence notices, and the App Store review page.
Fixed
- On sites whose language switcher is built so that neither option looks active, Movar read the page as Russian — and, fixing a problem that wasn't there, sent you to a different address. Some links (product links carrying parameters, for instance) simply would not open. Movar now defers to the language the page declares for itself when the switcher is ambiguous.
- Belarusian text is no longer labelled Ukrainian.
- The curtain over hidden content no longer collapses to different heights for cards that look the same size, and no longer clips long text.
Improved
- The blocked-language list is no longer kept separately — it follows from your priority list, so languages are configured in one place.
- The version number in the popup, in settings and in the Safari app now links to the changelog for exactly the version you are running.
-
Version 1.6.2
Fixed
- In Firefox, Movar stopped working on Google Search — it neither hid Russian-language results nor switched the search language.
- A rare case where hiding Russian-language content quietly stopped working on a tab and stayed off until you reopened the page. Movar now recovers on its own.
-
Version 1.6.1
Fixed
- A rare case where hiding Russian-language content quietly stopped working on a tab and stayed off until you reopened the page. Movar now recovers on its own.
-
Version 1.6.0
Fixed
- YouTube redesigned its pages — Movar understands all of them again: the recommendations next to a video, Shorts shelves, playlists and channel tabs.
- Returning from a video to your search results no longer reloads the page.
- Google's "Web" filter tab now gets your language preferences too — it used to slip past them unnoticed.
New
- Movar now also filters channel community posts — Russian-language posts are hidden just like videos.
Improved
- The privacy note during onboarding is now a proper card: no accounts, no analytics, open source.
- The install steps now show Safari's real interface instead of abstract grey bars.
-
Version 1.5.2
Fixed
- Opening videos from YouTube search results: clicking a video is no longer interrupted — the page doesn't blink, and the video opens as expected.
- Concealed content stays concealed after you switch Movar's interface language.
- Safari onboarding now talks about Safari instead of Chrome.
- "Show everything on this page" no longer carries over to the next page on sites that don't reload.
- Movar no longer interrupts Google searches on results pages that contain only product cards.
- A blocked language no longer slips through regional variants in sites' own language switchers.
- Several cases where revealing content left a site's layout or its own language switcher broken.
- "Always skip this site" now clears an active pause, so Movar resumes right away when you un-skip the site.
Improved
- Changing your languages now applies to tabs you already have open — no reload needed.
- Settings from the Movar app reach the extension more reliably: if a save doesn't go through, the change is applied later instead of being lost.
- More accurate hidden-item counts, and better keyboard handling in settings.
Security
- Switching to another language version of a page now only follows ordinary web links.
-
Version 1.5.1
Fixed
- Opening videos from YouTube search results. Clicking a video in the results list could be interrupted — the page blinked and the video wouldn't open; now it opens as expected.
-
Version 1.5.0
New
- Exempt sites are now managed right in the extension. Settings has a new editor to add, review, and remove sites where Movar does nothing, and the popup gains an "Always skip this site" action that exempts the current site in one click. Each domain is reduced to one canonical form and covers its subdomains.
Fixed
- Google returns results in your language even after a captcha. If Google showed an "unusual traffic" check, Movar now re-applies its language switch on the results page you land back on, instead of leaving it in the blocked language.
- On-site search on Ukrainian OpenCart shops (e.g. yato.com.ua): a Ukrainian page is no longer misread as Russian, so your search results are no longer lost.
Improved
- Tidier hiding on Google: the "People also ask" heading is hidden together with its concealed questions, instead of dangling over an empty box. "Show everything" brings the section back.
-
Version 1.4.3
New
- The toolbar icon now shows Movar's state: active, hiding content on this page (with a count), paused, off, off for this site, or needing attention. Fixed a brief flicker on page load, and the icon now keeps a consistent border in every state.
Fixed
- More reliable language switching on Ukrainian shops. Movar recovers a site's own language switcher on UMI.CMS-based shops whose "UKR" link redirected back to Russian, and no longer loses the real switcher on some sites that tag the whole page's language at once.
- Stability. Fixed a background crash during page loads, stopped needless reloads in Google AI Mode chat, and cut redundant rule writes (gentler on Safari).
Improved
- Companion app: a freshly selected tab now opens at its top, and text styling is unified across the app.
